The 4th Edition of SLDF, due to be held in Colombo from the 15th –18th of November this year, promises to be a unique gateway to South Asian creative industries through Sri Lanka. With a range of opportunities for sustainable sourcing to networking and sharing business practices, the festival promises to be 2012’s ‘gateway to South-Asia’.
SLDF engages a wide audience of international and local experts connecting designers, buyers, suppliers, manufacturers, opinion leaders and educationalists among influential personalities. The festival agenda presents a number of opportunities from sustain able sourcing and networking to best practices for building business links with South Asia. SLDF presents great business opportunities along with a chance to hear about the ground-breaking initiatives taking place in Sri Lankan apparel industry and why Sri Lanka is known as the global leader in sustainable business models. SLDF arranges pre-matched, special one-on-one meetings between international retailers, sourcing specialists and brands with Sri Lankan apparel makers and craft entrepreneurs.
At past SLDF’s international companies like Arora, Ted Baker, Topshop, Whistles and Boutiques networked with local manufacturers and have benefitted through these meetings.

EDUCATIONAL EXCHANGES
Sri Lanka Design Festival is annually organized by AOD (Academy of Design) – Sri Lanka’s pioneering international design campus. AOD offers globally acclaimed undergraduate design education in fashion, graphics, animation, interior design and fashion marketing along with certificate programmes in photography and jewelery design.
AOD is an active part of SLDF every year and represents South Asia’s future in design education. Collaborative projects and exchange projects with international design schools, universities, fashion brands, interior designers and graphic designers are welcomed by AOD.

PARTICIPATION
SLDF 2012 is structured as both a cultural and a commercial event and therefore has a stimulating program me in store for everyone attending. This years’ programme includes fashion shows, and design exhibitions with a special focus on design sustainability and traditional Sri Lankan arts and crafts. Welcoming design enthusiasts and students from all over the world, SLDF also presents an interactive series of workshops and talks in graphic design, advertising, interior design, photography and jewellery design.
